Let's face it, besides the E36 cooling system, the E36 hood always fail. BMW adding hood struts to the E36 was a great idea, as you don't need a rod to prop up the hood when you're working under it. The problem is, the gas in the struts end up leaking out due to bad seals and your hood can come crashing down on your head. Ouch. Replace your worn out hood struts with brand new ones. These are high quality replacements and made in Germany.
