Race German was founded by Justin Schaub with a vision to create a modern BMW shopping and media experience tailored for the 21st century. From an early age, Justin developed a deep passion for automotive engineering, particularly BMWs, influenced by his father’s first E30.
Justin pursued formal technical training at Southern Illinois University, where he studied aircraft maintenance and earned his FAA-certified Airframe and Powerplant license. He spent over a decade in the aviation industry as a jet engine mechanic, applying rigorous engineering standards and precision to his work. Outside of his professional career, Justin continued to refine his mechanical skills by working on BMWs, blending passion with hands-on expertise.
In 2013, Justin participated in his first track day at Roebling Road Raceway in Savannah, Georgia, driving a 1991 BMW 318is equipped with an M50 engine swap. This experience solidified his commitment to motorsports and inspired him to pursue a career within the automotive industry. Race German was initially launched as a small venture focused on apparel from trusted aftermarket BMW partners.
Over the following years, Justin leveraged his engineering background to design and manufacture performance products for the BMW platforms he personally owned and tested. What began as a side project quickly evolved into a full-scale operation, ultimately leading Justin to leave his engineering role at a Fortune 500 company to focus on Race German full time.
Today, Race German offers more than 20,000 products from over 50 leading manufacturers. The company is committed to providing high-quality, thoughtfully curated BMW products that stand apart from conventional retailers. In addition, Race German actively supports emerging engineers and innovators, helping bring new ideas and products to market while maintaining a strong grassroots foundation.
