BMW S6S420G Transmission Detent Repair Kit (E46 M3, E39 M5)

A common issue on the S6S420G transmission from the E46 M3 and E39 M5 is slop from the 5th and reverse gear.  BMW realized this, and made a solution with this comprehensive detent kit.  

For BMW's equipped with a Getrag 420G transmission which is known as an S6S420G transmission in the BMW world there is a common occurrence for some of these transmissions to suffer from a sloppy shifter when shifting into 5th gear and reverse.

Part of the problem is the sealing cover used by Getrag. This seal is the black cap that is supposed to prevent moisture from entering the detent shaft. However, over time it's become apparent these seals do allow for moisture to get into the shaft and cause corrosion on the pin, spring, and shaft walls. This kit has been specifically designed to address this seal issue and uses ZF sealing covers instead which will fit the 420G transmission the same as the Getrag supplied parts.

Included in this kit is new detent pins and springs for 5th gear and reverse along with new sealing caps and snap rings.
