BMW M60 / M62 / M62TU V8 Camshaft Timing & Locking Tool Kit
Properly set and lock engine timing during major repairs with this BMW M60 / M62 / M62TU V8 Camshaft Timing Tool Kit. This comprehensive kit includes the specialty fixtures needed to lock the camshafts and crankshaft, preload the timing chain, position the VANOS components on applicable M62TU engines, and correctly set mechanical timing during reassembly.
This is an especially useful kit when performing M62TU VANOS repairs, timing chain guide replacement, cylinder head work, camshaft removal, or a complete engine rebuild. The later M62TU added VANOS to the intake camshafts, making proper timing and the correct specialty tools particularly important during service.
Complete Timing Tool Set
Rather than piecing together individual BMW specialty tools, this kit provides the major timing and locking fixtures needed for M60, M62, and M62TU V8 engine service in one convenient carrying case.

Perfect for M62TU VANOS & Timing Chain Service
The M62TU is well known for requiring major timing system service as these engines age. Replacing timing chain guides, removing the VANOS assemblies, or performing cylinder head work requires the crankshaft and camshafts to remain precisely positioned.
This kit provides the fixtures necessary to correctly hold and position those components during disassembly and reassembly.
It's ideal for:
- M62TU VANOS removal and installation
- VANOS rebuilds
- Timing chain guide replacement
- Timing chain replacement
- Timing chain tensioner service
- Camshaft removal and installation
- Cylinder head repairs
- Head gasket replacement
- Complete engine rebuilds
- General M60 / M62 / M62TU timing service

Important Fitment Note
Not every tool in the case is required for every engine listed. The M60 and early non-VANOS M62 engines do not use the same VANOS-specific procedures as the later M62TU, so some of the VANOS tools are specifically intended for M62TU applications.
Always follow the correct BMW timing procedure for your specific engine code and production date.
The Right Tools for BMW V8 Timing Work
BMW M60, M62, and especially M62TU timing work requires precise positioning of the crankshaft, camshafts, timing chains, and VANOS components. Trying to complete a major timing service without the correct locking and alignment fixtures can make an already involved repair significantly more difficult.
With the camshaft locking fixtures, chain pre-tensioning tools, VANOS tools, crankshaft locking equipment, and carrying case all included, this kit gives you the specialty equipment needed for everything from an M62TU VANOS rebuild to a complete timing chain guide overhaul.
