Crankshaft Position Sensor Swap Harness Lead - 12514592703

This harness is used when installing crankshaft position sensors that have an updated design without a lead from the sensor. The superseded version of the crank position sensor had an adapter lead built into the sensor but it was replaced by BMW with a sensor without an adapter.

The old crank sensor came with an integrated lead built into the connector while the newer crank sensor doesn't. The new style crank sensor also operates at different voltages due to this change (12V vs. 5V) which is why the newer style harness has 4 connections. This adapter lead harness taps into the VANOS solenoid for the additional voltage required for the updated crank position sensor.

If your BMW has an older style crank sensor with the wire lead coming off of it, part number 12141744492 will need to also order this adapter lead. The new, updated crank sensor for this harness is part number 12141709616.
