Your standard OBD2 readers can only read basic codes. They are not able to read BMW specific engine codes. This can be crucial in diagnosing your engine faults. The free software allows you:

• Ability to read and clear codes
• Ability to read and clear shadow codes which may be hidden by normal OBD2 readers (BMW specific only codes)
• Freeze frame data, which gives you the ability to view when the code was actually triggered
• Live gauges

*Note: The free software does not allow you to change or modify vehicle settings.  The OBD2 to USB cable will connect with other 3rd party software that can give you this ability, but the software we provide only allows for the above behaviors. 

**Note: E46, E39, E53, E38, E83 and anything older set the switch LEFT. For models such as E90, E60, E70, E88, F, G, and I chassis and anything newer set the switch RIGHT.
